Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Unmute collects, uses, stores and protects personal data provided by users. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

Unmute is designed for confidence training and educational self development. It does not collect health or clinical diagnostic data and does not provide therapeutic services. This Policy will be updated as new features are introduced, and continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised version.

2. Operator and Data Controller Identity

Unmute is operated by an individual:

Data Controller: Floroiu Ionela
Contact: hi@bedroomlabs.co

The creation of a future Romanian SRL entity is planned. When control of data processing transitions to the SRL, this Policy will be updated and users will be notified.

The Data Controller is responsible for determining how and why personal data is processed within Unmute.

3. What Personal Data is Collected

Unmute collects only limited personal data necessary for account functionality and subscription access.

Data collected directly:

  • name
  • username
  • unified account identifier used for subscription validation and analytics

Optional onboarding inputs may be used to personalize quests. These inputs are not stored in a readable format and are not accessible to the operator. They exist solely to generate adaptive quest pacing and content.

The app does not request or store:

  • social connections
  • device contact data
  • messaging access
  • biometric or health information
  • any clinical diagnosis or therapy records

No data is collected outside what is necessary for login, subscription verification and adaptive quest functioning.

4. What Is Not Collected

Unmute does not collect information beyond what is necessary for account access, adaptive quest generation and subscription verification. Specifically, Unmute does not collect:

  • contact lists or social graphs
  • messages, phone logs or call data
  • email content, photo libraries or camera access
  • biometric identifiers
  • physical location tracking
  • psychological diagnoses or clinical records

Onboarding responses are used internally to shape difficulty and pacing but are not stored in a form accessible to the operator and are not linked back to individual identity.

5. Purpose of Data Processing

Personal data is processed strictly for:

  • creating and maintaining user accounts
  • synchronizing progress across devices
  • adaptive quest pacing and personalization
  • subscription validation and entitlement checks
  • anonymous usage analytics to improve feature performance
  • security, fraud prevention and server integrity

No personal data is processed for targeted advertising, third party marketing or sharing purposes.

Adaptive algorithms adjust difficulty and content but do not evaluate psychological health, diagnose conditions or replace professional consultation.

6. Legal Basis for Processing

Processing of personal data is based on:

User consent
Provided during onboarding at account creation, where users confirm understanding of data usage.

Performance of service
Certain data is required to operate account functionality, subscription access and adaptive systems.

Users may withdraw consent at any time by deleting their account or contacting support at hi@bedroomlabs.co. Withdrawal of consent results in deletion of associated personal data in accordance with the retention schedule.

7. Data Storage and International Transfers

User data is stored through secure infrastructure operated by external service partners located outside the European Union, specifically on servers in the United States.

Data storage and processing are handled with appropriate safeguards, encryption and access controls designed to protect against unauthorized use. While data may be subject to different regional frameworks, measures are maintained to align with GDPR security expectations.

By using Unmute, you consent to the transfer of your information to these storage locations for the purpose of account functionality, subscription verification and adaptive system performance.

If you do not wish for your data to be stored or processed outside your jurisdiction, you should discontinue use of the service.

8. Data Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as it is necessary for app operation.

  • Active accounts remain stored for service continuity.
  • Accounts inactive for 1 year are permanently deleted.
  • Subscription identifiers and server logs may be retained briefly for fraud prevention and operational security before removal.

If you request account deletion, all personal identifiers are removed in accordance with this schedule. Once deletion is completed, the data cannot be restored.

9. User Rights (GDPR)

Users located in the European Union, as well as users worldwide where applicable, have the following rights regarding their personal data:

  • right of access (confirmation of what data is held)
  • right of rectification (correct inaccurate information)
  • right of deletion (request removal of account data)
  • right of portability (request export when feasible)
  • right to withdraw consent at any time
  • right to restrict or object to processing when legally applicable

Unmute does not profile users in a clinical or diagnostic manner and does not apply automated decisions with significant legal or personal effects.

Requests regarding data rights can be submitted to hi@bedroomlabs.co.

10. How to Exercise Rights

Users may exercise any privacy or data rights by contacting the operator at:

Email: hi@bedroomlabs.co

Requests may include account deletion, data access, correction or export when technically feasible. Verification of identity may be required to prevent unauthorized access to account information.

Responses will be provided within a reasonable time frame in accordance with applicable regulations. If deletion is requested, all personal identifiers will be removed in line with the retention schedule.

11. Security Measures

Unmute uses technical and organizational security measures to protect personal data, including encryption, secure transfer protocols and controlled access limitations. These measures are designed to reduce the risk of unauthorized use, disclosure or alteration of stored information.

No method of data transmission or storage can guarantee complete security. While safeguards are maintained to align with industry expectations, absolute protection against all potential breaches cannot be assured.

12. Third Party Processors

Certain operational functions rely on external service providers, including data hosting and subscription verification. These third parties process data solely on behalf of Unmute and only as needed to maintain the service.

Third party services operate under their own privacy and security commitments. Unmute does not control their internal policies but selects partners that demonstrate secure and reputable handling of data.

If any third party provider changes its practices or becomes unavailable, Unmute may need to adjust internal systems. Service continuity will be maintained when possible but cannot be guaranteed in all circumstances.

13. No Sharing or Sale of Data

Unmute does not sell, trade or rent personal data to any third party. Personal information is not shared for advertising, profiling, marketing distribution, behavioral retargeting or commercial resale.

Data is processed only to operate the app, maintain subscription access, personalize quest pacing and improve general usability. No personal information leaves the service environment except as required by law or through essential service providers that support core functionality.

14. Children and Age Limits

Unmute is designed for users who are at least 16 years old. While the App Store rating is 9+ to reflect general content suitability, the nature of confidence training and adaptive challenges requires maturity and self regulatory ability.

Users who are under 16 should not register or use the service. If it becomes evident that an account belongs to a user below the permitted age, the account may be removed.

Parents or guardians who believe a minor has registered without permission may request account removal by contacting: hi@bedroomlabs.co

15. Cookies and Tracking

Unmute does not use advertising identifiers, behavioral tracking pixels or external marketing SDKs. Anonymous usage analytics may be collected solely to improve app stability, system pacing accuracy and user experience.

No cross app tracking, targeted advertising systems or third party marketing integrations are currently utilized.

If tracking technologies are added in the future to support product development, analytics or crash diagnostics, this Policy will be updated in advance and users will be given clear notice.

16. Changes to the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect feature changes, operational adjustments or legal requirements. If revisions occur, notice will be provided in the app.

Continued use of Unmute after an updated Policy is presented constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated Policy, you should discontinue use and delete your account.
